Have you ever wondered what the process of breaking your leg, getting a series of cast and dealing with the casts is like? If you are like me and love the "story" behind the cast, then this post is for you. It is by far my largest and most ambitious post - 30 images!
I Ran across some pics of a girl who broke her leg while riding her dirt bike. She did an awesome job of documenting her trip through cast land. I thought it would be interesting for you folks to see the timeline...
update: had to masturbate once just putting this post together!
First off our subject is this beauty who I posted a few weeks ago, here is a pic of her pre broken leg
Day 1 - she breaks her leg
Right after the accident
At the Hospital
XRay - do you see the clean break?
She gets a temporary splint to support the break, but has to wait for a real cast for a couple of more days until her swelling subsides.
Here she is getting fitted for crutches
Day 3 - Time to visit the ortho and get a real cast
Waiting for the ortho to remove her temporary splint
The splint comes off and you see the leg before it will disappear into cast. She didn't know she would be getting a full leg cast until now. The ortho informed her that the joint above (knee) and below (ankle) the break would have to be immobilized in order for her break to heal. Time frame in full leg cast? 4 weeks
Now comes time to apply the full leg cast, I don't think I've ever seen it done while the patient stands, but hey I'm not a doctor, just a cst fetishist :)
She also gets a wheelchair for those times when crutces just won't do.
Her first shower in the full leg cast... check out the home made plastic bags and duct tape cast cover!
Day 13 - A full leg cast isn't going to keep her out of the gym!
Day 33 - Time for the full leg cast to come off!
The cast is completely off and she is waiting for her new cast, checkour the bruising...
Time to apply the short leg cast
Day 36 - Pink cast = Pink toes
Day 46 - Again a cast isn't going to keep her from showing off her athletic side.
Day 63 - Time for the shrt egcast to come off and transition into a boot!
One last look at the pink cast
1 month of use wears the cast out!
On its way off
The leg appears, significantly smaller due to non-use
2 months and the break has still not healed, however you can see progress.
And finally the boot.... I'm not a fan of boots, but here it is.
