So our subject is a early 20's snowboarder. She was "bombing" which means she went down a hill as fast as possible (48mph) and then jumped... She landed awkward spraining her left ankle and breaking her right leg/ankle. 4 weeks in a full leg cast. Which will be followed by several weeks in a short leg cast...
1st pic is a collage of her still connected to her board after the fall, then her board and her ankles at the ER facility on the mountain.
Looks to be swollen... I wonder if it is broken???
YUP... Looks to be in a few pieces.
Time for a temp cast to stabilize while the swelling subsides...
Now its time for the full leg cast. Here they are finishing off the bottom half...
And now working their way up the leg...
And there you have it a perfectly clean, new full leg cast resting on some pillows.
Feeling a little better... lets try out these crutches!
